DHA from the Source
Most omega-3 supplements are made from fish oil. That’s because fish are the primary food source of EPA & DHA, the most important omega-3 fatty acids for human health.
But fish don’t naturally produce those omega-3 fatty acids. They get them from eating marine algae. Why not cut out the middleman and go back to nature’s original source?
Our Vegan DHA is sourced directly from marine algae — a clean, plant-based, and sustainable source of DHA, which doesn’t absorb ocean contaminants the way that fish do.
Omegas for Vegetarians
Omega-3 fatty acids are difficult to get from a vegetarian diet. Those who don’t eat fish must rely on plant-based foods such as walnuts, flaxseeds, soybeans, and chia seeds.
While these foods do provide the omega-3 fatty acid ALA, they don’t contain the bioactive omega-3s, EPA & DHA. ALA can be converted into EPA & DHA, but only in small amounts.
Marine algae is the only known plant source of DHA & EPA. While we generally don’t eat it as food, algae-based supplements make a great alternative source for these essential omega-3s.
Omega-3 vs. Omega-6
Omega-3 fatty acids have many important functions in the body that support our health. But they also influence our health in another way: by balancing the effects of omega-6 fatty acids.
